SNAP-Education x DC Health Partnership

  • Through our partnership with DC Health, United States Food and Drug Administration (USDA) and Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) approved nutrition and fitness education for SNAP-eligible individuals in the DC area and beyond!
  • Content is shared regularly across all our social media follow us @SorogiHealth to stay informed and inspired by tips, resources, and upcoming activities.

Healthy Cooking Demonstrations

  • We hosted two cooking demonstrations on April 1 and April 15, 2025 at 6:00pm. One of the recipes from these demonstrations was a tasty crock pot lentil stuffed pepper! The recipe is as follows:
  1. 6 medium bell peppers, tops sliced off, cored, seeded
  2. 1 large onion, chopped
  3. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 2 Tbsp olive oil
  5. 1 Tbsp basil, dried
  6. tsp fennel seed, to taste
  7. 1 tsp salt
  8. 1 (28) ounce can of crushed tomatoes
  9. 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce gluten-free if needed
  10. 2 cups lentils
  11. 3 oz low fat feta cheese divided
  • We’re now averaging 26 participants per session—thank you for your enthusiasm and support!
  • Our next cooking demonstration is scheduled for May 6, 2025, at 6:00 PM
  • We will be promoting our next healthy cooking demonstration starting Thursday April 24, 2025 on all our social media platforms!
